The 2022 Darwin Cup Carnival is set to be one of the biggest yet and continues to be the biggest sporting and social event in the Northern Territory. We’ll take in the two main race days, attend the gala ball and explore the beautiful Litchfield National Park.
The Darwin Cup Carnival is a bucket list event for all Australian racing fans as we’ve heard so many fantastic stories from visitors. The biggest outdoor gala ball in the Southern Hemisphere is an event not to be missed with quality food and live performances by some of Australia’s best entertainers – All under the great northern starry skies in the Top End of Australia. With 20,000 in attendance at the Cup, we’ll have an experience not soon forgotten.
PAYMENT – Fully Refundable $200 Deposit due on booking, $500 further payment due Feb 1st, with the balance due 60 days before the tour begins.
Upon arrival in Darwin, make your way to our four-star Apartment Hotel centrally located near the Darwin Waterfront for check-in and rest. We’ll meet up for some welcome drinks to settle in before heading out on a lovely sunset harbour cruise, or waterfront welcome dinner, to enjoy the warm weather, get to know everyone and enjoy some local produce.
We can arrange extra nights accommodation if you wish to arrive early, attend the Wednesday races or just explore more of Darwin and the NT.
This morning we’re off early to enjoy a guided tour of the Litchfield National Park. Visit the incredible Wangi Falls, Florence Falls and Buley Rockhole where you’ll have a chance to see and swim in stunning waterfalls. See the Magnetic and Cathedral Termite Mounds and hear about their unique role in our Tropical Eco-system.
We’ll stop for lunch at a nice cafe in the wilderness, then the late afternoon and evening are yours to relax and explore Darwin.
We’re up early to visit leading trainer Gary Lefoe’s stable to see how training is done up in Darwin on the dirt and get the last word on all his runners across the weekend.
Then we enjoy a group crocodile spotting cruise along the Adelaide River, skippered by our local wildlife expert with a stop at Humpty Doo Pub for lunch.
Upon returning to the hotel you have the rest of the day to relax by the pool or head out for a walk to explore Darwin.
After a busy 48 hours, enjoy a lazy sleep in and swim in the pool as the races don’t start until later. We kick off the weekend’s racing at Palmerston Sprint Day, with the big 1200m dash the highlight of the day’s races. We have premium hospitality in The Atrium with reserved tables, substantial canapes and beverage package all afternoon.
Then we get ourselves dressed up and head off to the amazing outdoor Gala Ball where we’ll enjoy an amazing evening under the stars as the biggest social event on the Darwin calendar goes off in style. Red carpet arrival, three-course meal on reserved tables, premium beverage package and exceptional entertainment awaits.
Today is a well-earned rest day after a massive Saturday. You may want to just sit around the pool, head out to a nice restaurant, explore the history of Darwin or even head out to Kakadu National Park on a day trip (we can help book this).
We’ll meet in the evening for a few sunset drinks to prepare for the big Cup Day ahead.
After a relaxing morning, we’re back out to Fannie Bay racecourse for the day we’ve all been waiting for, the Great Northern Darwin Cup. With over 20,000 people trackside for the $200,000 race on the best dirt track in Australia.
We’re back in The Atrium with member lawn access and a spot looking down the straight. The hospitality includes deluxe buffet luncheon including fresh seafood, beverage package including beers, premium wines and spirits. This is a great spot to soak up all the racing atmosphere and watch it all unfold.
Our visit to Darwin finishes today as we make our way back down south and back into winter, hopefully with lots of great memories and some winnings in our pockets.
