SELLS OUT EVERY YEAR – REGISTER FOR 2024!

A sell-out event each year now is the time to join our friends at TravelWest for the unique experience of the Birdsville Cup in September 2024, where we’ll fly to the races on our private plane!

A unique and true outback race meeting! The first race meeting was held in September 1882 as an event for hack and stock horses with a few local spectators and was largely attended by nearly 150 station owners, managers, stockmen, and other employees. The carnival now includes a two-day, 13-race program and boasts prize money of $200,000.

Great entertainment, class horseracing, and premium hospitality make for a fantastic event in the heart of Australia’s outback. Join us in 2024 and tick this great outback event off your bucket list!

Itinerary

FRIDAY 6 SEPTEMBER 2024Private Plane To Birdsville & Day 1 Races

We have a private plane ready for us at Brisbane General Aviation Terminal to take us on the approximately 3-hour trip out to Birdsville.

We depart Brisbane about 7am and fly over the Darling Downs agricultural farmlands and into mulga country, near Charleville. Travel west over the Warrego, Paroo & Bulloo Rivers, Cooper Creek, and the Diamantina River before arriving in Birdsville.

Along the way, you’ll receive commentary about the western river systems that make up the Lake Eyre Basin and some other interesting history. Upon arrival, you will be guided to ‘Tent City’, your accommodation for the next 2 nights. Showers and toilets are nearby the tents. During your stay, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to enjoy the atmosphere at the historic Birdsville Hotel.

We’ll then make our to the first day of the 2-day race meeting at the Birdsville Racetrack. We just have a spot in the public area to soak up the atmosphere, have a few drinks and enjoy the afternoon. Regular shuttle services are available to get to/from the track.

After we suggest heading to Fred Brophy’s Boxing Tent. Being the world’s last travelling boxing troupe; it’s a show you must not miss. Something you need to experience in your lifetime. Cheer or join in!

SATURDAY 7 SEPTEMBERBirdsville Cup Day

We have our own transfer to the race track on a shuttle bus for an entertaining day and hope to back a few winners!

Entry to the Trackside Corporate Marquee is included today and is extremely popular offering the following:

•Clear fronted marquee with full views of the track
•Gourmet dining featuring OBE Organic Produce
•Exclusive trackside access
•4.5 hour beer and wine package
•Complimentary racebook
•Sky Channel coverage & Live music

A shuttle service is available to take you back to town for this evening’s festivities where the pub is a not to be missed venue.
