SOLD OUT IN 2023 – DON’T MISS OUT IN 2024!
The TAB Warrnambool May Racing Carnival is one of Australia’s hallmark country racing events and we’re making the trek down the Great Ocean Road to take it all in. We’re staying in the beautiful seaside town of Port Fairy, just 30 minutes from Warrnambool, and will enjoy a little look around the area before we hit the races.
Produced by the Warrnambool Racing Club, the three (3) day country racing carnival attracts thousands of racing enthusiasts every year to view Australasia’s premier jumps horses, immerse in the thrill of country racing, be inspired by autumn race fashions, and enjoy unmatched local hospitality. It features 23 flat races and 7 jumps races, including the internationally acclaimed Grand Annual Steeplechase, first held in 1872 and remains the longest and most celebrated of its kind in Australia. This is Australian grass-roots racing at its finest!
PAYMENT – $200 Deposit due on booking, balance due 60 days before the tour begins.
Arrive into Melbourne & meet at Southern Cross Railway station for our 1pm train down to Warrnambool. On arrival into Warrnambool, we’ll be transferred to our accommodation in Port Fairy. After a freshen up, we’ll head out for drinks and dinner to get to know everyone. A special guest or two may drop by.
After a quiet morning, we’re off for a little tour of the area including a beautiful volcano and then it’s off to beautiful Basalt Winery for some lunch and wine tasting.
Then we’re off to Warrnambool Race Club for a walk of the track with leading jumps jockey Tom Ryan. Get a feel for the track, get some insight into what is needed to win at Warrnambool, and hopefully, he’ll steer us into a winner or two.
On return to Port Fairy the evening is yours to enjoy some local hospitality, do the form and get ready for a hectic three days of racing.
The races start at 11am so we’re all up and about early to get ready for the opening day of this great May Carnival, featuring the Brierly Steeplechase. The ladies are invited to the iconic Ladies Luncheon. One of the social highlights of the Carnival, this event will ensure you have a memorable day at the races with hundreds of like-minded ladies. Boasting fantastic trackside views from within the Member’s Enclosure.
After a long day at the track, we all head back to Port Fairy for a quiet night, or we leave you to hit the pubs of Warrnambool if you’ve had a big win.
We’re back off to Warrnambool for the middle day of the carnival, highlighted by the Listed Wangoom Handicap, a speciality for the wet track sprinters.
Today we’re located in the Platinum Dining Marquee, great spot with trackside views, three course meal and six hour beverage package. We will be in great company within the most sought-after location the Carnival has to offer.
You’ll again have an opportunity to kick on in Warrnambool after the last, otherwise, we’ll head back to Port Fairy for a few quiet drinks and dinner.
We’re back for the last day of the Carnival featuring the Grand Annual Steeplechase (5500m) and the Warrnambool Cup.
We’re again located in the Platinum Dining Marquee offering an exclusive location with trackside views, again with three course meal and premium beverage package.
It’s been a massive week and hopefully, we’ve still got some winnings in our pockets. We’ll catch the train back to Melbourne before heading our separate ways after another great racing adventure.
