Join AUSTRALIAN RACING TOURS and TASMANIAN RACING CLUB for an exciting long weekend in the Apple Isle. The Hobart Cup is a remarkable thoroughbred horse race in Tasmania – Australia’s island State. It is one of the most prominent social events in the State and a part of the Tasmanian Summer Racing Carnival.
This Group 3 race sees some of the best stayers in the southern states invade to try and steal the prize, and along with the Tasmanian Derby meeting on Friday afternoon and a preview Calcutta evening for the Hobart Cup – This promises to be a great weekend of racing.
We’ll also take in some of the stunning sights of Hobart and enjoy some of the fine local food and wine with an opportunity to stick around and explore the rest of Tasmania.
PAYMENT – $200 Deposit due on booking, balance due 60 days before the tour begins.
Make you way to our waterside located hotel, the four-star Grand Chancellor Hotel. This centrally located hotel, right in the heart of Hobart is a great base for the weekend.
After settling in we’ll meet for some welcome drinks before enjoying a nice local dinner and get to know each other.
Today we’ll venture into the Tasmanian countryside and visit one of their famous spirit distilleries. We’ll also stop in at a winery to taste some beautiful sparkling and Pinot Noir before sitting down to a relaxing lunch and a few other drinks.
The rest of the afternoon and evening is yours at leisure to explore Hobart and book into one of their fine restaurants.
After a relaxing morning, we head off to the Tasmanian Racing Club for the traditional Friday afternoon races with the highlight being the Tasmanian Derby. We have all-inclusive hospitality with stunning views of the track and a chance for a mounting yard visit to see the new track.
Afterwards, we’ll enjoy the Calcutta Cup Preview evening at the track as we attempt to have a runner in the Cup.
We have a relaxing day ahead to enjoy a few of Hobart’s great attractions. Wander down to the iconic Salamanca Market for a spot of shopping.
We depart at 11.30am for a fun day aboard two Sydney to Hobart Yachts as we “race” to lunch. Join in and contribute as much as you want, or sit back with a few drinks. We’ll moar together and enjoy a nice relaxing lunch in the beautiful surrounds, before “racing” back.
The evening is yours at leisure to explore some of Hobart’s hospitality or rest up before the races tomorrow.
Today is the big feature of Tasmanian racing with the main race the Hobart Cup. Commencing about 11.30am, we’re located in the Committee Room area which provides elevated views of the track. A 3-course lunch and drinks are provided. We’ll also watch a race from the mounting yard as we get up close to the action.
The races conclude around 6 pm and you have the evening to celebrate a great day out and spend your winnings!
The tour concludes this morning, but we recommend you don’t go before paying a visit to the world-famous Museum of Old and New Art (MONA)
