Join AUSTRALIAN RACING TOURS and TASMANIAN RACING CLUB for an exciting long weekend in the Apple Isle. The Hobart Cup is a remarkable thoroughbred horse race in Tasmania – Australia’s island State. It is one of the most prominent social events in the State and a part of the Tasmanian Summer Racing Carnival.

This Group 3 race sees some of the best stayers in the southern states invade to try and steal the prize, and along with the Tasmanian Derby meeting on Friday afternoon and a preview Calcutta evening for the Hobart Cup – This promises to be a great weekend of racing.

We’ll also take in some of the stunning sights of Hobart and enjoy some of the fine local food and wine with an opportunity to stick around and explore the rest of Tasmania.

Itinerary

THURSDAY 4 FEBRUARY 2021Welcome Dinner

On arrival, you will be transferred to our waterside located hotel, the four-star Grand Chancellor Hotel. This centrally located hotel, right in the heart of Hobart is a great base for the weekend. We’ll head out for a nice local dinner and drinks to get to know each other.

FRIDAY 5 FEBRUARYHobart Derby Day

After a relaxing morning, we head off to the Tasmanian Racing Club for the traditional Friday afternoon races with the highlight being the Tasmanian Derby. We have all-inclusive hospitality with stunning views of the track and a chance for a mounting yard visit to see the new track.

SATURDAY 6 FEBRUARYPeppermint Bay Cruise & Calcutta Evening

We have a relaxing day ahead to enjoy a few of Hobart’s great attractions. Wander down to the iconic Salamanca Market for a spot of shopping.

We depart at 10.30am for a relaxing, rejuvenating and rewarding day onboard the luxurious 23-metre catamaran, Peppermint Bay II, and experience the real Tasmania. The Peppermint Bay Cruise takes in harbour and city views, the River Derwent and its magnificent estuary, slicing its way along the stunning d’Entrecasteaux Channel, arriving in the near-pristine waters of Peppermint Bay.

We arrive back around 3.30pm for a couple of hours relaxation before heading off to the Calcutta Evening where you’ll have a chance to go into the Calcutta to win some big cash at the Cup. We’ll enjoy a few drinks, meet all the key players and enjoy the Hobart nightlife.

SUNDAY 7 FEBRUARYHobart Cup Day

Today is the big feature of Tasmanian racing with the main race the Hobart Cup. Commencing about 11.30am, we’re located in the Committee Room area which provides elevated views of the track. A 3-course lunch and drinks are provided.  We’ll also watch a race from the mounting yard as we get up close to the action.

The races conclude around 6 pm and you have the evening to celebrate a great day out and spend your winnings!

MONDAY 8 FEBRUARY 2021Tour Concludes

The tour concludes this morning after breakfast, but we recommend you don’t go before paying a visit to the world-famous Museum of Old and New Art (MONA)
