Europe’s richest and most prestigious race, the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, takes place over the first weekend of October each year in Paris. We’ll enjoy all the best the week has to offer with a tour of Paris, visit famous Chantilly racecourse and palace before we head to Longchamp Racecourse.
The new four-storey grandstand opened in time for the 2018 event offers 360 degree panoramic views of the city of Paris and is a fantastic vantage point to take in Europe’s most prestigious horse race.
PAYMENT – $200 Deposit on booking, $1000pp instalment in August 2022, balance due 45 days before the tour begins.
Arrive in Paris and make your way to our four-star Le Meridien hotel. Our hotel’s location facilitates discovery of Paris’s luminous attractions; we’re a short walk from the Champs Élysées and the Arc de Triomphe.
We’ll then meet up t the bar to enjoy a few drinks before we head out and enjoy a nice welcome dinner at a local French restaurant to get to know everyone and hear our plans for the week.
After a morning of leisure, we’ll be taken on a half-day guided tour of beautiful Paris, taking in all the key sites including the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Louvre and more.
The evening is then yours at leisure to enjoy some fabulous restaurants and the amazing Paris nightlife.
Today we’re off to the heart of French racing in Chantilly where we’ll take in the stunning surrounds, visit a local stable, check out the amazing gallops and forest sand tracks, drop by the racecourse, enjoy a tour of the famous palace and indulge in a tasty country luncheon. The surroundings for training at Chantilly are amazing and a day you soon won’t forget.
Today is a day of leisure for you to explore more of Paris, do some shopping, visit some more famous museums or just wander the streets and soak up the city of love. There is also the option to attend the races at Saint-Cloud (30 minutes away), a casual Friday afternoon race meeting.
We’ll meet for a nice evening dinner cruise along the beautiful Seine River to take in all the views, including the lit-up Eiffel Tower, and prepare for a great weekend of racing ahead.
After a relaxing morning, we’re off to Longchamp for the opening of the Arc weekend. We have a ticket in the Finish Line Enclosure which gives you access to the Ground Floor and Level 1 of the main stand with a view of the Parade Ring. This is a day to explore the course, visit the parade ring, hit the gift shop and see the horses up close.
After the races, we’ll head back to the hotel for evening drinks with Frankie Dettori and a few other special racing guests; they’ll talk us through their rides at Longchamp and hopefully tip us into a winner or two.
After breakfast, we get into our finest racewear and head back to Longchamp for the highlight of the European racing calendar, the Arc. We’ll enjoy a gastronomic lunch at the Michelin-starred restaurant La Cascade, an amazing local restaurant opposite the track. Then we’ll be transferred across to the track and into our lounge located in the grandstand with a reserved seat.
With a complimentary bar and dessert canapes throughout the day, you don’t have any reason to leave…you can see everything from this area and being higher up in the stand offers some fantastic views of the famous Eiffel Tower. You’ll also have access to the paddock and the lawn which runs along the finish line and the Arc Gardens.
After breakfast, the tour concludes and we all head our separate ways back to Australia or onto another adventure in Europe.
