Our tour to the iconic Karaka Million sales and raceday week promises another unforgettable experience, featuring a week packed with exciting on- and off-track action, headlined by the prestigious trio of $1 million races.
We’ll also take in the stunning local scenery, including a visit to the renowned Waiheke Island, where you can enjoy a selection of exquisite wines, beers, and gourmet food — a true highlight of the week.
In addition, we’ll have the exclusive opportunity to attend the yearling sales, where the finest New Zealand-bred horses go under the hammer. Experience world-class hospitality as we tour the sales and examine the yearlings alongside leading trainers and bloodstock agents.
Itinerary
Upon arriving in Auckland, make your way to the 5-star Horizon by SkyCity Hotel, ideally located in the heart of the city. After check-in and some time to settle in, we’ll gather for a relaxed local dinner — a perfect opportunity to meet your fellow travellers and share in the excitement of the week ahead.
Today, we’ll take a scenic ferry ride to Waiheke Island, starting with a visit to the stunning Mudbrick Winery. Savour a wine tasting while soaking in breathtaking views across the island. Next, we’ll explore an award-winning brewery and winery, followed by a delicious lunch at Three Seven Two, a beautiful beachfront restaurant.
After a full day on Waiheke, the evening is yours to unwind at the hotel or explore Auckland’s vibrant nightlife at your leisure.
In the morning, we’ll visit the renowned Karaka Sales Complex for an exclusive yearling inspection, giving you the chance to see top New Zealand-bred horses up close and meet leading trainers, including Sparta Racing, Lindsay Park, First Light Racing, Tony Pike, Henry Dwyer, and others.
We’ll enjoy a delicious lunch and warm hospitality from the studs on site. The evening is then yours to relax and unwind at your leisure.
After a leisurely day, we’ll make our way to the newly renovated Ellerslie Racecourse for one of New Zealand’s most thrilling race nights — the Karaka Million. Feel the excitement build as the country’s top two- and three-year-olds compete for prestigious prize money and racing glory under the lights.
Savour the action from the comfort of a premium setting, with gourmet dining and fine beverages curated by Ellerslie’s award-winning chefs. The menu showcases the best of New Zealand, featuring a carvery, fresh seafood, hot dishes, vibrant salads, decadent desserts, and a selection of teas, coffees, and cheeses.

Today, we return to the Karaka Sales Complex as the first lots go under the hammer. We’ll review our shortlist, watch the standout lots make their way through the ring, and enjoy the famous Karaka hospitality. Once our purchases are secured, we’ll head back to the hotel to pack and relax before coming together for a farewell dinner — the perfect chance to celebrate the week’s adventures and the new friendships forged.
